Depending on your supplier, most companies will offer changes to their current products. This can include adding a logo to a box or upgrading the packaging to have a more luxurious packaging. If you are trying to create a brand with complete customization, another option you can ask for is custom packaging. Keep in mind, whenever you request for any changes or customization, you agree to higher costs.
Higher Costs
Some suppliers are only capable of customizing products in large quantities. If you request for something as simple as screen printing your logo, some times, they will raise your minimum order quantity(moq).
Some suppliers will charge a printing fee.
Suppliers will offer graphic design services but it is not free.
Luckily for us, we were able to find a supplier that allowed us creative freedom and gave us transparent pricing before we established a relationship. My suggestion when proposing my idea was hard to translate over, so I found that if you give visuals, it is easier to communicate.
If you want your ideas to be incorporated into your final design, make a prototype. If you're not the most artistic or forgot geometry, have no fear, a quick search on Google for the type of box packaging template you want is there. For example, here's a great box packaging template.
All you would need to do is make a similar template, add the graphics and text, print it out, and fold it!
Make sure to save the file as a .pdf and send to your supplier an image of how you want your final product to look like.
